About KCS

Business History
Keystone Computer Solutions, Inc. was established on August 27, 1987. The company was formed by three principals, including Joseph Richburg and Dorothy Richburg with the intent of providing a legal framework for each individual to market their own services. Their goal has been to provide benefits to clients via complementing the customer’s staff with immediate flexibility, productivity, creative ideas, special skills, reduced work direction, turnover, training, and expenditure. The name Keystone was selected to indicate the key connector between business needs and effective solutions.

During Keystone’s early years, the primary skills utilized included implementing computer solutions using Digital Equipment Corporation products, computer graphics, CAD/CAM, computer mapping solutions, business oriented IBM, UNISYS, and Honeywell applications. Initially, the majority of our contract support was in this mainframe environment, but quickly evolved with the demand for expertise in PC technical support, network and client server technology. Remaining on the cutting edge of IT advances has enabled us to service companies such as 3M, Carlson Companies, General Mills, Fortis, Pillsbury, Imation, The State of Minnesota, Honeywell, IDS/American Express, Target Corporation, General Mills, Norwest Bank, United Healthcare, Northwest Airlines, Metropolitan Transit Commission, St. Paul Companies, MRNet, Burlington Northern, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN, Personix, Snyder Drugs, Onan, United Healthcare, ECOLABS, the University of Minnesota and others.

In addition to servicing the IT needs of large corporations, we recognized there was a demand amongst businesses in the S&P market for the same high quality IT support. As a result, in 1998 we expanded into the small to mid- sized business technical services markets. We became a certified Microsoft Solution Provider in 1999 and utilized Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers (MCSE) in a division entitled Technical Services. Through the Technical Services division, we continue to design, configure, and install networks, for numerous small to mid-sized businesses. Additionally, we provide helpdesk support via phone, remote applications, and on site visits—handling any IT related need.

We also partner with businesses that complement our services, particularly hardware companies that require network and software capability as well as IT recruiting firms that focus in specialized skills.

Our track record of meeting the demands of the market has led us into the world of electronic re-Cycling (e-Cycling). We have provided e-Cycling services to companies throughout the Twin Cities and North Dakota, including Carlson Companies, Medtronic, and Border States Electric. We continue our green initiative at major corporations throughout the United States—enabling us to provide complete life-cycle management of clients computing environment.

We continue to update our offerings to embrace emerging technologies to meet the needs of our customers and have a twenty plus year history of providing superior service and dedication to our industry and customers. This makes us the premiere information technology company in the Twin Cities.
