BUSINESS
HISTORY
Keystone Computer Solutions, Inc. was incorporated on August
27, 1987. The company was formed by three principals,
Harold Owens, Joseph and Dorothy Richburg with the intent of
providing a legal framework for each individual to market
their own services. The skills employed included
implementing computer solutions using Digital Equipment
Corporation products, computer graphics, CAD/CAM, computer
mapping solutions, business oriented IBM, UNISYS, and
Honeywell applications.
The name
Keystone was selected to indicate the key component in the
path between business needs and technical solutions. We
continue to complement our customer’s staff with immediate
flexibility, productivity, creative ideas, and special
skills. Keystone strives to lower turnover, provide for
reduced work direction, lower training expense and other
expenditures for our clients.
Since 1987,
Keystone has serviced companies such as 3M, Carlson
Companies, General Mills, Fortis, Pillsbury, Imation, The
State of Minnesota, Honeywell, IDS/American Express, Target
Corporation, General Mills, Norwest Bank, United Healthcare,
Northwest Airlines, Metropolitan Transit Commission, St.
Paul Companies, MRNet, Burlington Northern, Blue Cross Blue
Shield of MN, Personix, Snyder Drug, Onan, United
Healthcare, ECOLABS, and the University of Minnesota.
Initially the
majority of Keystone’s contract support was in the mainframe
environment, but, due to market demand, we expanded into PC
technical support, network, and client server technologies.
In 1998 the
decision was made to enter the small to mid-
sized business technical services markets. We moved to a
new facility in September 1998 to address the space
requirements of Keystone Computer Solutions, Inc. and
network services. The newly built facility offered the
professional image that Keystone’s clientele required.

In 1999, Keystone became certified as a
Microsoft Solution Provider. We have utilized our certified MCSE’s in another growing division within Keystone called
Technical Services. This division has designed, configured,
and installed networks for small and mid-sized businesses.
In many cases Keystone functions as the IT department for
those clients with scheduled onsite or ad-hoc technical
support. This service has been expanded to include remote
technical support as well. Keystone has become HP and
Compaq resellers and continues to be a place for “one-stop
shopping” for PC support.
Currently,
Keystone partners with other businesses that complement our
array of services, such as companies that sell hardware that
require network and software capability. We have partnered
with recruiting companies that focus in specialized skills
that our company does not posses. This has been very
successful in expanding and increasing our viability in the
industry.
Dorothy and
Joseph Richburg have an exemplary commitment to their
clients and employees. This is evident in the growth,
progress, and the longevity of the company. They continue
to explore opportunities in the industry and welcome
insights from employees, clients, and advisors. |
